A musicians quest.

Posted by Bad-Man-Incorporated - December 19th, 2011

Every musician loves to make music. It's in our minds, hearts and part of our very soul. Music is the best way to convey almost any feeling, but at its best, reveals your deepest ones.

We start with a feeling
We then start humming a melody
We develop a feel
We attempt to transpose for others to consume.

The journey is riddled with work. From learning new components to your musicianship, to finding instruments that best convey what you want others to hear of your creation.

Then it is fine tuned, over and over and over and over...etc.
Then it is changed, as you work on it, develops and encompasses the feelings you have while making it, intertwined with the feelings that started the whole process, to begin with.

You get better instruments, better sounds, better software and strive to make it sound the best that you can. However it turns out, you can be assured that, the quest never really ends.

As a "metal" musician, the main quest is "tone". I was lucky and over the last couple of years was able to bypass my quest for tone. It was achieved. This provided a unique ability to simply, create and let my most inner self out through my "instrument". haha.

Sadly, I must re enter the never ending "quest" for tone. For now.

Of all the searching, it was found in my Line 6 pod x3. Countless hours of tweaking, shaping, etc pretty much exploded. That explosion not only contained popped resistors and melted motherboards, but ended up smearing and splattering my inner most thoughts and feelings, all over the walls too.

In short, and without the drama:

My pod died. And I'm a broke ass nugga. No new music from the badman, until I can replace it. I have no idea how long that will take.

Maybe I'll make techno or dubstep. I think I have fruity loops kicking around. LOL

Merry Christmas, fuckers.

dude that sucks. Ive got an X3 myself, and to be honest it took me a good 3 months of tweaking until i finally found what i was looking for...if i had to start over again i think id kill myself.

From one guitarist and musician to another - "That sucks like a fuckin black hole. Keep rockin."

I have a buddy that is loaning me a digitech gnx3000 in the mean time. Don't know ANYTHING about how much I can do with one, compared to what my pod did for me. But I've always wanted to try one!

that sucks my soundcard became a stupid dumb box too just recently :(

ouch.

aw..that sucks
thats a bit like what happened to my computer except all my riffs and songs and lyrics i ever wrote were there...
and pics,projects,books that i wrote...
so now i record with my phone haha
anyways
i guess this is something we all go through because we depend so much on technology.
good luck saving up money for a new pod
maybe you can get one for christmas (:

Sucks a lot about the computer. I feel that pain for sure. Picked up a GNX 3000 today...so hopefully I can put some cool stuff together for the holidays!

fuck man, that sucks. really sucks. losing expensive hardware is one thing. but losing your tone along with it? damn, i feel your pain... merry fucking christmas indeed.

Picked up a GNX3000 today! on another quest for TONE

ah you know im never leaving, somene has to bother you here haha

Good. :)

Excuse me while I sit and cry thinking about your loss D: I'm sorry, sir.

Working on the replacement brother. But it's sound only inspires me to make industrial ish stuff. Weird. I think I'll put that stuff in my Black-cloak-of-night account.

I remember when I had my Little Muff, and new batteries burned it out. It's a horrible feeling, but one day, you'll re-find that sound.

Little Muff = dirty ass tone. Love those. adapters. Cheaper than batterieS!

Hi man, long time no see! Check this out http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/467823 , it's a metal cover on Dune:The Battle For Arrakis" soundtrack, I'm %100 you played this game before! :)

That is plain awful, for me was like having a year worth of codes and .c/c++ programs, along most of my personal files when a bad sector of my laptops hard drive destroyed all the partition sizes and when I sent it to repair in US it got lost in the shipment.

Then I had to recover everything piece by piece, so I kinda know how that feels.

Well I like Techno but really I don't enjoy dubstep as much as I enjoy the other genres of electronic music.

Man, I'm all TOO familiar with what coding does to your brain. Your loss is far worse than mine. Besides, I purchased a new podx3 LIVE! So tones are back. No techno for THIS guy. However, I'm currently writing an UBER UBER sellout nickelbackish song for a local thing. So when that is done more SUPER metal!

I learned my lesson, now I have so many redundant backups for most of my files, they'd be only gone if civilization collapse with a nuclear holocaust.

No doubt. I'd like to say the same. But I'm lazy. LOL.
